Understanding your Results

BMI
BMI-Body Mass Index. A BMI calculation is worked out by the height, and weight of an individual. It is a rough guide to how much weight a person is carrying. BMI is not recommended for body builders, long distance athletes, pregnant women, elderly or adolescents. BMI does not distinguish the difference between fat and muscle. A healthy BMI range is between 18.5-25.
BMR
BMR-Basal Metabolic Rate. BMR is also known as your metabolism. It is the number of calories required to keep your body functioning at rest. Consuming a deficit of calories will help you to lose body fat. Creating a large deficit means consuming to few calories and taking in less nutrients for your body’s needs. While you may still lose weight, you could be losing both fat and muscle. Also, eating too far under your BMR may cause your body to become tired and weak.
TDEE
TDEE is your Total Daily Energy Expenditure or your activity level. It is estimated by the amount of exercise that you do. It is calculated by firstly working out your BMR then multiplying that value by the amount of activity you do whether your activity level is sedentary, lightly active, moderately active, active, very active, or extra active. Using the calculator will help you work out this value and give you a guide to how many calories you should consume for weight loss, weight gain or maintenance.
Target Calorie Intake Per Day
